Biography
Drew H. Wrigley was sworn in as North Dakota’s 37th Lieutenant Governor on December 7, 2010. Wrigley is a fourth-generation North Dakota native, with family roots in Burke and Walsh counties. He was born in Bismarck and grew up in Fargo, where his family founded and continues to operate a mechanical contracting company. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 1984, and the University of North Dakota in 1988, with honors in economics.
Between his years in law school in Washington, D.C., Wrigley returned to North Dakota and worked alternately for Federal Judge Rodney Webb, the United States Attorney’s Office and a private law firm. He graduated from law school in May 1991, and began a year-long judicial clerkship in Delaware.
Wrigley returned to Bismarck in 1998, after serving for five years as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia, Penn. In 2000-2001, Wrigley served as Policy Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor John Hoeven and Lieutenant Governor Jack Dalrymple, where he was instrumental in helping to shape early policy for the administration.
In 2001, he was nominated by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate as North Dakota’s 17th United States Attorney. He served in that role until 2009, when he became Vice President for Compliance, Audit and Ethics for Noridian Administrative Services, a North Dakota-based Medicare/Medicaid private sector contractor with locations in 22 states.
Wrigley serves as President of the North Dakota Senate and as point person for the Governor’s Office on key legislative initiatives.
Wrigley and his wife, Kathleen, have three children.
